The Basics
You start with $0.01 — a single penny. Your goal? Turn it into $1,000,000,000 through trading, negotiation, and smart investing. Every item you own has a value, and every trade is a chance to move up — or get scammed.
NPCs roam the map offering trades. Some are fair, some are shady, and a few are outright scammers. Evaluate every offer carefully: check the item, the NPC’s trust rating, and the risk tier before you commit.
Think you’re the best flipper out there? The global leaderboard ranks players by net worth — climb the ranks, earn badges, and see how you stack up against everyone else.
Sound effects now bring trades, purchases, scams, and milestones to life with audio feedback. You can toggle sound on or off in Settings. Important events like tax seizures, scams, disasters, and land opportunities now appear as notification banners at the top of your screen so you never miss them. Ambient posts in the Activity feed are now tappable — tap any post to read the full message.
FlipAPenny now supports iOS push notifications to keep you informed even when the app is in the background. To enable them, go to your device’s Settings > Notifications > FlipAPenny and turn on Allow Notifications.

Phases
FlipAPenny is divided into 6 phases. As your net worth grows, new mechanics, items, and NPCs unlock.
| Phase | Name | Net Worth | Unlocks |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The Hustle | $0.01 – $100 | Basic trading, marketplace |
| 2 | The Come Up | $100 – $10K | Boosts, repairs, insurance |
| 3 | The Big Leagues | $10K – $500K | Your shop, stock market |
| 4 | The Empire | $500K – $50M | Real estate, options trading |
| 5 | The Dynasty | $50M – $1B | Mega-deals, luxury items |
| 6 | The Legacy | $1B+ | Philanthropy, New Game+ |
Tap the Net Worth label anywhere it appears for a live breakdown of where your wealth lives — cash, inventory, stocks, options, trust, and outstanding loans. Silent deductions like taxes, fees, and insurance premiums show up in the Activity Feed for full transparency.
Trading
Trading is the core of FlipAPenny. NPCs will offer you items in exchange for yours. Every trade has a risk tier — from safe bets to high-risk gambles where the item might be worth far less than claimed.
Each NPC has a trust rating that builds over successful trades. Higher trust means better offers and lower scam chance. But be careful — even trusted NPCs can occasionally offer bad deals.
Safe
Low reward, no scam risk
Risky
Good reward, moderate scam chance
Dangerous
High reward, high scam chance
Marketplace
The marketplace lets you buy items from NPCs and list your own for sale. Items are organized into categories — electronics, collectibles, clothing, and more.
Every sale takes a 10% fee. Items that have been flipped many times suffer a flip count penalty, reducing their value. You can bundle items together for a higher combined price, or list individual pieces from a collection.
The marketplace buy screen has been completely redesigned. You’ll now see full item details, seller information, and item descriptions before committing to a purchase.
Collections
Complete sets for bonus value
Bundles
Group items for a single listing
10% Fee
Marketplace cut on every sale
Flip Penalty
Value drops with excessive flipping
Inventory
Your inventory holds up to 20 items at a time. Managing your slots is key — hoarding cheap items means missing high-value opportunities.
Newly acquired items have a 10-minute listing cooldown before they can be posted on the marketplace. Each item also has a condition rating (Mint, Good, Fair, Poor) that affects its value.
Mailbox
The Mailbox is where the world reaches you — tax notices, real estate offers, scam attempts, charity asks, insurance claims, market alerts, and more. Every message has a sender, a category, and either an action button or read-only info.
Three filter pills at the top let you narrow the list. The unread count appears as a badge on the Mailbox tab so you never miss a beat.
All
Everything in one timeline
Property
Real estate offers, project updates
Alerts
Disasters, market events, services, workshops, lawsuits
Swipe right on any message to mark read or unread. Swipe left to archive. Tapping a message opens its detail view if there's an action — a trade to evaluate, a project to fund, a claim to file. Otherwise it just shows the full text.
Boosts
Boosts give you temporary or one-time advantages. They become available in Phase 2.
One-Shot
Instant sell, skip cooldown, reveal hidden value
Timed
2x trade XP, reduced fees, better NPC offers (5–30 min)
Short on cash? You can watch an occasional rewarded ad to earn free game coins — a quick way to fund your next boost or cover a trade gap without spending real money.
Scams & Phishing
The world of FlipAPenny is full of hustlers. Scams come in two forms:
Trade Scams
NPCs offering items worth far less than they claim. Low-trust NPCs on risky trades are the biggest culprits.
Feed Phishing
Fake notifications in your feed offering “free items” or “special deals.” Tap and you lose money or items.
Watch for red flags: deals that seem too good, unfamiliar NPCs pushing urgency, and offers with no way to inspect the item first.
Taxes
The government takes its cut. Tax bills arrive periodically, scaled to your phase and net worth. Higher phases mean steeper brackets.
You can defer payments, but deferred taxes accrue interest. Ignore them long enough and you’ll face penalties that eat into your trading profits. Pay early, pay less.
Ignore your tax bills too long and the government won’t just charge interest. After 7 days of unpaid taxes, your bank account will be seized. You’ll lose access to your cash until the debt is settled. Pay on time to avoid drastic measures.
| Phase | Tax Rate |
|---|---|
| 1 – The Hustle | 5% |
| 2 – The Come Up | 10% |
| 3 – Big Leagues | 18% |
| 4 – The Empire | 25% |
| 5 – The Dynasty | 32% |
| 6 – The Legacy | 38% |
Insurance
Bad things happen. Items break, disasters strike, and scammers get lucky. Insurance protects your assets — but it’s not free. You pay recurring premiums based on your coverage tier and the total value of your insured inventory. Higher tiers cost more but pay out better.
Personal Basic
Covers item loss from scams at current market value
Personal Replacement
Full replacement with a same-condition item
Commercial Basic
Protects shop inventory and income
Commercial Replacement
Full shop restoration after disasters
Be honest when declaring your inventory value. Undervaluing items to save on premiums might seem smart, but insurers keep track — future claims can be reduced or denied based on a history of underreporting.
Bank Loans
Asset-rich but cash-poor? Starting in Phase 2, PennyBank lets you borrow against your net worth. Take out a loan to fund your next big trade without liquidating your inventory.
Loans come with interest that accrues every game tick. Higher phases unlock better rates — reflecting your growing creditworthiness. But be careful: outstanding loans reduce your net worth, and the interest adds up fast.
Credit Limit
Borrow up to 40% of your net worth
Interest Rates
15% in Phase 2, down to 5% in Phase 6
Repayment
Repay any amount at any time — no penalties
Trust (Phase 5)
New in v2.0 — cross $50M and the kind of advisor who only shows up when you have something to lose lands in your inbox. Marcus DeVance pitches what he calls bulletproof asset protection through a revocable trust.
He walks you through the real workflow: apply for an EIN at irs.gov, name your trust, fund it. Once set up, your Trust Account lives alongside your cash in PennyBank — sequestered but counted toward your net worth, with transfer in and out at any time.

Marcus's pitch leaves things out — your inbox will explain
Phase 5 is where the game gets interesting. Marcus is partly right. He's also leaving things out. Pay attention to your inbox — sooner or later, someone else weighs in.
Your Shop
Starting in Phase 3, you can open income properties — small shops that generate passive income over time. Each shop type handles different service requests from customers.
You can own up to 5 shops simultaneously. Keep them stocked and serviced, and they’ll be a steady revenue stream even when you’re not actively trading.
Repairs
The workshop lets you turn broken items into repaired, higher-value versions. Buy cheap broken items on the marketplace, repair them, and sell for a profit.
Repair costs scale with the item’s base value. A broken phone bought for $5 might cost $3 to repair and sell for $15 — that’s the FlipAPenny hustle.
Stock Market
Unlocked in Phase 3, the stock market adds a whole new dimension. Buy and sell shares across 18 tickers spanning multiple industries.
Stocks pay dividends over time, giving you passive income. In Phase 4, options trading unlocks — buy calls if you’re bullish, or puts to hedge against downturns.
Stock market alerts have been reduced to keep your mailbox from getting cluttered. Only significant market moves will trigger notifications.
Real Estate
Phase 4 introduces real estate. Choose between two paths:
Promoter
Develop properties from project templates. Fund construction, manage timelines, sell for profit.
Investor
Buy existing properties, flip houses, collect rental income from tenants.

Philanthropy
In Phase 6, you’ve made it. Now give back. Donate to causes and watch your legacy grow. But philanthropy isn’t just spending — some donations arrive disguised as incoming gifts, keeping things interesting.
Your donation history shapes your public profile and unlocks unique late-game content.

Customize your look with three avatar modes:
